Coogan Accounts - Ask your bank about setting it up.
According to California Sate Law, all parents (or guardians) whose children work in the entertainment industry are required to open a Coogan Account. 15% of the child's gross salary is to be placed in the account, which belongs solely to the child and cannot be touched by the parents until the child is 18, or without a court order. The law was enacted in 1939 as a result of Jackie Coogan and others who lost fortunes when their parents unlawfully spent their children's earnings.
